New Construction Information

Building a new home, building, or business on our lines? 

We are eager to assist you in starting your new electric service. To get the process started, you need to complete this webform as well as the following be filled out and returned to the co-op: 
Requirements:
  • All the appropriate permits from County Zoning, Health Department and local Township or City as required.
  • The basement must be backfilled at the meter socket location, and all final excavating and grading must be completed in the cable route.
  • A bypass meter socket must be installed, and the electrician must sign the local affidavit. The meter socket must be inspected by the local inspector, if applicable. All meter sockets shall be minimum 200 amp sockets.
  • All line extension payments must be paid in full before installing electric service.
  • Policy #9 - Consumers requesting a line extension for a new service shall be charged and shall pay in advance of any construction:
  • A new service fee of $750
  • $10.00 per foot for any footage
  • Required line brushing and clearing costs based on a time and equipment basis.

  • Temporary services that are to become part of a permanent service but cannot be immediately installed at the permanent location (within 3 feet of an existing transformer, secondary pedestal, or metering pedestal with capabilities for additional service connections) at the time the service is originally built will be assessed a charge of $100 in addition to the service extension fee under item one (1) above, before service is constructed. Temporary services are available for a period of six months at which time it will be removed.
