The Co-op Youth Ambassador Program, formerly known as the
Junior Board, is an
educational experience and enjoyable program designed specifically for high
school juniors. It is a great way for students to interact and work with other
students by examining
the business of operating an electric
cooperative. Applicants should have a sincere interest in learning about rural
area development
and cooperatives. Students will become familiar with the
infrastructure of Riverland Energy Cooperative, discover the relationship
between our cooperative and our state and national support organizations. They will also get a first-hand look at our energy provider, Dairyland Power Cooperative.
As Co-op Youth Ambassadors, the students will attend meetings 5
to 6 times in a year. Meetings are
usually held in the afternoon at the Arcadia Riverland Energy Cooperative office
and will be
dismissed early enough to attend after school activities they
may be involved in.
Ambassadors also have the opportunity to participate in the electric cooperative Youth Leadership Congress held in July at the UW-River
Falls campus.
