
High School Scholarships available from REC:
Qualifications for the scholarship are:
- One of the applicant’s parents or legal guardian must be an active member in “good standing” and a bona fide resident of Riverland Energy Cooperative.
- The recipient must have maintained a 2.0 or better grade point average during their first semester of post secondary education.
- The application must be filled out and returned to a Riverland Energy Cooperative office by 4:30 p.m. of designated application deadline to be verified for requirements.
- The recipients will be chosen in a random drawing at the annual meeting. One for each high school previously listed as well as one At Large scholarship. The applicant, or one of the applicant’s parents or legal guardian,
MUST BE PRESENT AT THE ANNUAL MEETING. If the applicant, or the applicant’s parent or legal guardian is not present, the applicant will not receive the scholarship should his/her name be drawn. Instead, a new name will be drawn until the scholarship can be awarded to an applicant meeting the attendance requirements.
- The recipient must be enrolled full time and be in good standing at the school they are attending.
- Disbursement of scholarships will be made upon receipt of transcripts from the student verifying the stipulations listed above.
Scholarships are awarded to seniors, but are paid upon the recipient having maintained a 2.0 or better grade point average during their first semester of post secondary education and enrollment in the next.

Non-Traditional Scholarships:
A scholarship is also awarded to non-traditional students at schools of higher learning. This will be awarded to someone returning to university or technical college after spending a minimum of 3 years in the work place or raising a family. To be eligible, you or your spouse must be a member in “good standing” and a bona fide resident of the Riverland Energy Cooperative service territory. The schools are: WWTC-La Crosse, CVTC-Eau Claire, UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-River Falls, UW-Menomonie, MN State College and Winona State University. Applications are available at these schools.
There will also be one Scholarship At Large made available to students attending other Wisconsin Universities, a Wisconsin private college or a reciprocity university/college not listed above. Please contact

Other Qualifications for the Non-Traditional Scholarship are:
- The Riverland Energy Cooperative Scholarship recipient will be selected by a school appointed committee.
- The recipient must have maintained a 2.0 or better grade point average during their current quarter or semester of post secondary education.
- The recipient must be enrolled in a course of study leading to an associate or bachelors degree.
- The recipient must be enrolled with a minimum of 5 credits and be in good standing at the school they are attending.
- The awarding of a non-traditional scholarship will be limited to a one-time award. After receiving a scholarship, the individual would not be eligible for future awards.
The disbursement of non-traditional scholarships will be awarded after all qualifications are met with receipt of transcripts and verification of enrollment as listed above.
