Riverland Energy Cooperative offers a rebate directly to you when you install a new electric water
heater. You can also receive up to $75 towards the cost of installation, providing that it is installed
by a contractor. A contractor is any type of business that is involved in sales, repair or installation
of water heaters.
After you purchase the new water heater and it is installed, contact the office to set up an appointment
with our load management technician. The technician will install a load management control (LMC) or if you
currently participate in the load management program, will test
the existing control at your service location. Besides the rebate, you will also receive a $2 credit
on your electric bill each month by having the LMC in place. We will also need a
copy of the receipt, including installation charges. You must use at least 300 kWh in order to receive the credit.
The following specifications and criteria apply to the new water heater:
- The incentive amount for the various sizes of water heaters is as follows:
- Water heaters over 100 gallons - $4/gallon
- 80 gallon - $250
- 50 gallon - $50
- Contractor retrofit installation - $ 75
- Self retrofit installation - $30
Riverland Energy Cooperative will also pay up to $75 for contractor repair services, or for parts only (up to $75) if a member does their own repair service. The water heater must be controlled.
